York St John is one of the oldest higher education institutions in York. Renowned for its academic excellence and strong community spirit, it is also committed to excellence in the student experience for a diverse community of learners and has achieved 88% satisfaction in the National Student Survey.

 

Their student continuation rate of 95% places the University among the Top 10 in the higher education sector and their student achievement rate continues to improve. York St John’s progress is being recognised at a national level with its shortlisting in four categories in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Awards and by winning the Strategic Planning Team of the Year Award at the THE Leadership and Management Awards. Constantly striving to reduce its impact on the environment, York St John’s student union has received the NUS Green Impact Gold Excellence Award in Biodiversity.

 

York St John promote interdisciplinary research and thirty per cent of its research is considered ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ according to data published from the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014. They have a strong track record of employability and enterprise with 92.4% of their graduates undertaking further study, employment or starting a business within six months of leaving university and 72.4% progressing directly to graduate jobs.

 

The university’s magnificent campus is located in the centre of the historic City of York and consists of an eleven-acre site, in a stunning setting, facing the world-famous York Minster across the city walls.
