Since then it has developed into a university that combines both metropolitan and cosmopolitan dimensions, and which is closely involved in business, professional and academic life within London, as well as overseas.

The University has always been, and continues to be, imaginative in recognising new needs and developing appropriate offerings for its many target markets. The University also has a strong and historic commitment to promoting equality and embracing diversity. As a place to work or to study, we strive to strengthen our reputation as a welcoming and inclusive organisation.

The University collaborates with scores of businesses from established global players to new businesses. They welcome research partnerships and are currently partners with over 20 institutions across Europe and Asia, opening doors for students all over the world. Their expanding overseas activity has resulted in the University being twice awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade. Westminster was the first modern university to win the award. The latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirmed Westminster’s position as a leading modern University with an outstanding record of achievement in research in wIith 90% of submitted research across 13 subject areas being assessed as internationally recognised, internationally excellent and world leading.

Committed to sustainable practices, Westminster has a number of initiatives in place to improve its social and environmental performance. The University also has a strong and historic commitment to promoting equality and embracing diversity. The university is one of London’s leading universities for widening access, with over 96% of students progressing from state education (2013).
