The University of Kent
The University of Kent is a leading research-intensive UK university creating a global student and staff community that advances knowledge, stimulates intellectual creativity and performs at the highest levels. Ranked within the top 20 universities by the Guardian University Guide 2014, the university was also in the top ten for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2013 (of all publicly funded, multi-faculty institutions), being in a select group to score 90% or above.
Kent has long-standing partnerships with over 100 universities in mainland Europe. The only UK university with a centre in Brussels, they also offer postgraduate programmes in humanities at their centre in Paris. Kent is a major participant in a range of European programmes and continues to work hard to improve its programmes and campuses. Kent students can study or undertake work placements abroad in a range of countries from within Europe to worldwide. As well as contributing locally within Kent and the south east of England, the university also has a strong international impact through its external, worldwide networks and partnerships.
At Kent, teaching and research are interwoven. Kent’s research has been ranked as world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour (4*) and many academic schools and research staff are partners in innovative European projects at the cutting edge of research. Their academics have been awarded National Teaching Fellowships for five years running and 97% of their academic staff work in schools or centres where the research is rated as internationally or nationally excellent.
In their latest governmental Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the University was placed 24th out of 159 participating institutions in terms of the best, or 4*, research.
